Lakeview, Wrigleyville, and Lincoln Square: how to choose a med spa when five are on your Brown Line

It helps to choose a med spa on six questions rather than distance alone: who injects, which device, whether they price by the plan, whether they’ll tell you when a treatment isn’t a fit, what the downtime is in days, and how you’ll get there. From Lakeview or Lincoln Square, the Brown Line to Diversey covers the last one.

Lakeview starts at Diversey, the street our stop is on, so our Lincoln Park med spa sits right at the border. Here’s what to look for in each answer.

Six questions to ask before you book

• Who does the injecting, and what is their license?
• Which device, by name, and is it FDA-cleared?
• Do you price by the plan or by the unit?
• Will you tell me if I am not a candidate?
• What is the downtime, in days?
• Which stop do I get off at, and where do I park?

Question one: who injects, and what’s the license?

Botox, fillers, Kybella, PRF, and threads are prescription drugs or needle procedures. Every botulinum toxin label carries the same boxed warning that the effect “may spread from the area of injection,” per the Botox Cosmetic prescribing information. It’s rare, and it’s the reason the person injecting is a nurse or higher, with a medical director behind them.

At Skinovatio Lincoln Park, injectables are done by Sheri Nader, NP, or Charles Samuel, FNP-C, under medical direction. Every Botox and neuromodulator visit starts with a consult and a written plan, with your face mapped while the muscles are moving. Ask every clinic the same question. A well-run clinic can answer it right away.

Question two: which device, by name?

“Laser” and “RF” are used loosely on some menus, so ask for the machine by name and what it’s cleared for.

At Lincoln Park, the InMode Morpheus8 is FDA-cleared for coagulation and contraction of soft tissue, per its 2024 clearance. The Candela GentleMax Pro is cleared for hair reduction on all skin types, I to VI, with a 1064 nm wavelength for darker skin. Forma is radiofrequency, not a laser. HydraFacial is an FDA-registered device exempt from premarket review, which makes it a good facial, but not what makes a clinic medical.

Question three: priced by plan or by unit?

A per-unit price doesn’t tell you much until you know the dilution and the count. We prefer to price by the plan: your areas mapped, your product chosen, and your total known before the visit. The Botox cost post walks through the arithmetic. The short version is that what you pay is units times price, and the unit count gets decided after you’ve already chosen a clinic based on the rate.

Question four: will they tell you when a treatment isn’t a fit?

It’s useful to know what a med spa doesn’t offer. We don’t offer body-contouring devices at Lincoln Park. For a double chin, we use Kybella. For loose skin, Morpheus8 or Forma. For overall weight, we offer medically supervised weight loss under a nurse practitioner, rather than a device. For heavy jowls, we refer you to a surgeon, because threads move tissue millimeters and a surgeon moves it centimeters.

We also don’t provide Botox during pregnancy, laser on tanned skin, or Morpheus8 for someone with enlarged pores but no laxity, and we’ll explain what could help instead.

Question five: downtime in days

“Minimal downtime” isn’t specific, so ask how many days of redness, swelling, or bruising to expect. Here’s what to expect at Lincoln Park, by treatment: Botox, small bumps for 20 minutes and nothing to see by the afternoon. Microneedling with PRP, red on the day, and most people can wear tinted SPF by day two. Morpheus8, 2 to 5 days of redness, grid marks, and fine scabs. PDO threads, swelling on day one, tenderness when chewing through day three, and back to normal for most people by day seven. That’s why we schedule a thread lift 6 to 8 weeks before a major event. Individual results vary, so ask for the typical range, not just the best case.

Question six: which stop, and where do I park?

Coming from Lakeview, Wrigleyville, or Roscoe Village? Take the Brown Line south from Southport, Belmont, or Wellington to Diversey, then head south on Lincoln. You’ll find us on the ground floor at 2632 N Lincoln Ave, just north of Wrightwood, a block up from the Apollo Theater. From Lincoln Square, you can board at Western and ride to Diversey the same way, or take the 11 Lincoln bus straight down Lincoln Avenue, which runs right past our door. From Wrigleyville, the Red Line works too: south to Fullerton, then north on Lincoln.

If you’re driving, there are meters on Lincoln, paid through the ParkChicago app. You can find free spots on the side streets west of Clark if you keep an eye on the cleaning signs, and the Lincoln Common garage is a few blocks south if you’d rather not circle.

Lincoln Park, by the Brown Line from Southport or Belmont to Diversey, then south on Lincoln, or the Red Line to Fullerton, then north. There are other med spas on the same lines, but Lakeview starts at Diversey, so your ride ends right at our stop.

Do you see people from Roscoe Village?

Yes. Lincoln Avenue runs northwest from our door through Lakeview to Roscoe Village, so the 11 Lincoln bus is a straight ride south, and the Brown Line from Southport to Diversey works the same way. Weekday midday appointments are available for shorter treatments like Botox and HydraFacial.

Is there a med spa on the Brown Line north of Diversey that's yours?

Yes. Skinovatio Ravenswood Manor is at 2934 W Montrose Ave, Unit 101, on the Brown Line side of Lincoln Square. It’s the same brand, with the same clinical standards. Services and online booking availability vary by office. If you’re at Western or Rockwell, it may be the shorter ride. Lincoln Park sits at the Lakeview border, a convenient choice for anyone coming from Lakeview, Wrigleyville, Roscoe Village, or points south.

Can I get the same treatment plan at both Chicago locations?

Both are Skinovatio clinics, so if you’d like to switch, ask either desk how to carry your plan over. Providers differ by location, so the person holding the needle may not be the same. Ask when you book, and the desk will tell you who’s in that day.
